Democratic socialist Melat Kiros has unseated the 15-year incumbent Diana DeGette for the Colorado Democratic primary.

At just 29 years old, she was born in Ethiopia in 1997, the same year her opponent took office.
Kiros' win is the third in a potential wave of Democratic socialist victories, where left wing challengers have seen off veteran Democrats in this year’s primaries.
