Red extreme heat warning extended amid 'savage heatwave'
A red warning for extreme heat has been extended by the Met Office until 9pm on Friday for parts of southeast England.
A temporary hosepipe ban has also been imposed in Kent amid the continuing heatwave.
The UN climate chief Simon Stiell said the "savage heatwave" showed what the climate crisis looks like in public, while experts said Europe's temperatures were rising at roughly twice the global average rate.
