
Kyiv targeted in deadly Russian strikes
Waves of Russian missile and drone attacks on Ukraine’s capital Kyiv have killed 23 people with almost 90 others injured.
The city’s mayor called the nighttime strikes “terrible” and declared Friday as a day of mourning.

But as the Ukraine war has now lasted longer than World War I and cost a total of around two million casualties, including more than 450,000 Russian dead, is this attack a case of Vladimir Putin lashing out?
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Vladimir Putin was losing the war and would only escalate his attacks on civilians.
In Moscow and St Petersburg citizens are now also feeling its impact: fuel shortages have created long lines that bristle with dissent. Usually loyal commentators are questioning the point of the war and Putin has admitted that there are problems while still vowing to escalate.
The dead and injured have been pulled from rubble in the capital Kyiv. But does Putin feel for the first time that he might lose the war he started?
