US telecom giant Comcast, which owns Sky, has announced a £1.6 billion takeover of ITV's broadcasting and streaming services in a deal which would create the UK's biggest commercial TV broadcaster.

Sky CEO Dana Strong said it was a "defining moment for British media" and urged the regulators to approve it. The owner of Sky News will get half of ITV's 40% stake in ITN, which makes this programme as well as ITV News, Good Morning Britain and Channel 5 News.
