Local US election officials are preparing for intimidation and violence from armed federal agents at the polling booths.

"They're authoritarian tactics,” Denver election official Paul López told Four Corners reporter Mark Willacy.

“And at the end of the day, it is absolutely illegal per US federal law for any federal agent, for any troop or anybody trying to intimidate voters at the polls.”

Election workers have undergone training to prepare them for polling day scenarios, including possible intimidation and meddling in the vote.

With his approval rating at a record low, some fear Donald Trump will reject the results.

US civil society group, Protect Democracy told Four Corners it is prepared to rush to court if Trump interferes.

“For the first time in modern history, the greatest threat of election interference is coming from the federal government itself," Justin Vail from Protect Democracy told reporter Mark Willacy.
