Four Corners exposes safety failures in childcare sector
Little Zak’s is one of the country’s fast growing for-profit childcare chains, expanding from 16 centres in 2021 to 43 today.

The family-owned business also has the highest proportion of centres subject to enforcement action among the country’s 26 largest long daycare operators.

Leigh Cotter’s son suffered a spiral fracture from his ankle to his knee while at their Shellharbour centre in 2023.

Initially, Cotter was told his son was injured just before pickup but says an educator later told him his son had been screaming in another room much earlier in the day.

“Six hours of walking on a broken leg — it's child abuse,” Cotter said.

He believes the incident occurred due to poor supervision.

The claims were put to Little Zak's but they declined to comment, citing privacy.
