Croatia’s rivers remain dynamic natural systems, shaping floodplains, wetlands, karst landscapes, and habitats that support remarkable wildlife. From the free-flowing Drava and the Danube floodplains to the karst rivers of Lika and Dalmatia, water continually reshapes the land, creates new habitats, and sustains breeding grounds for birds, fish, amphibians, and other species.
The film reveals how floods, underground water, tufa formation, and seasonal flow drive these ecosystems, while showing how people have adapted to rivers rather than fully controlling them. Across the Mrežnica, Krka, Cetina, Kupa, and other waterways, Croatia’s river landscapes emerge as living systems defined by movement, renewal, and biodiversity.
