New figures show that UK net migration dropped to an estimated 171,000 last year - down by 48 per cent on the previous 12 months.

It is the first time the estimate from the Office for National Statistics has fallen below 200,000 since the start of Covid.
Home Office figures also showed the number of asylum seekers in UK hotels stood at a new low of nearly 21,000 at the end of March - down 35 per cent year-on-year.
