Is the new Range Rover Sport Electric a proper Range Rover, or just a very expensive Jaecoo with a posh badge? (We’re joking. Mostly.)
Land Rover’s long-awaited electric SUV is finally here, promising all the luxury, refinement and go-anywhere ability of the Range Rover family, but with instant electric performance and a price tag that starts significantly below the full-fat Range Rover Electric.
In this video, Nicola Hume gets behind the wheel of the new Range Rover Sport Electric to find out whether it has what it takes to compete with the Porsche Cayenne Electric, Polestar 3 and the upcoming BMW iX5.
With twin electric motors producing up to 550hp and 850Nm of torque, the Sport can sprint from 0–60mph in just 4.3 seconds. Its 118.5kWh battery promises up to 374 miles of WLTP range, while its 800V electrical architecture supports rapid charging at up to 350kW.
But this isn't just about straight-line speed. Range Rovers have a reputation for combining extraordinary comfort with serious off-road capability. So, can the electric Sport still wade through up to 900mm of water, tackle steep slopes and deliver that effortless, refined driving experience?
