It was Donald Trump's first time at the White House Correspondents' dinner as President - an event where President Obama mocked him from the stage fifteen years ago and which he has boycotted for more than a decade.
But before his speech - in which he was apparently going to let rip at the media began - gunfire echoed outside the room, and the President and his entourage were hustled away.
