Rep. David Scott (D-Ga.) has died at age 80, his office confirmed, becoming the fifth member of Congress to die in office since January 2025. The longtime lawmaker, who represented Georgia’s 13th District for more than two decades, was remembered as a key Democratic voice on agriculture and food policy. His death was announced during House floor proceedings, further shrinking an already divided chamber.
