Tens of thousands of doses of a vaccine used for previous strains of Ebola have begun arriving in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The authorities are struggling to control the rapidly spreading virus. It's already the fastest growing outbreak on record.
It was declared almost 100 days ago on 15th May. Five weeks later, the number of confirmed cases in the DRC passed a thousand, with 277 deaths.
By the start of August, the number of cases had risen dramatically, with a six-fold increase in deaths.
There are now well over five thousand confirmed cases, and more than two and a half thousand deaths.
That's a mortality rate of 47.6 percent.
