TikTok to pay US government $400 million in child privacy settlement

TikTok has agreed to pay a settlement worth $400 million over claims that they failed to protect children's online privacy.

The social media site and its parent company were sued by the US Department of Justice in 2024 - lawyers argued that the firm collected "vast amounts of data" on millions of young children aged under 13.
