Donald Trump has halted a raft of economic sanctions against Russia, in what Ukraine’s president says is a “reward” for Vladimir Putin.
The decision has sparked outright anger from Democrats and many Republicans in Congress.

When Congress passed the Russian sanctions bill, it was a cross-party display of American support for Ukraine. But Trump's decision to block those sanctions was his latest show of support for Russia's dictator.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy says it will encourage Putin to continue the war, who responded with another day and night of Russian airstrikes on energy facilities across Ukraine.
The sanctions were set to start Sunday but Trump said he was vetoing them in the United States “national interests”.
Commentators say it won’t save Trump in the looming midterm elections, but a wide ranging barrage of sanctions, not least against China and India for buying Russian oil, won't happen for now.
