The first round of negotiations between the US and Iran have concluded | 7.30
The first day of negotiations between Iran and the US concluded early this morning in Switzerland.
Amongst the details thrashed out - mostly about how the talks themselves will be handled - Iran's Foreign Minister claimed the two sides made progress by agreeing to a mechanism to end hostilities in Lebanon between Israel and Iranian-backed Hezbollah.
There was already heavy criticism in Israel last week of the signing of the MOU because it appeared to favour Iran and sought to constrain Israel in its military campaign in Lebanon. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu insists IDF soldiers will remain in the country.
Ehud Olmert was Prime Minister of Israel during the 2006 war in Lebanon and is a critic of the current Israeli Prime Minister. He spoke to 7.30's Sarah Ferguson.
