Renoir in Paris: Impressionism and the 'city of love' | National Gallery
Follow the first 20 years of Renoir's career from the 1860s to the 1880s; from his years as a young bohemian artist in Montmartre working alongside friends Claude Monet and Alfred Sisley, to the creation of his famous Impressionist paintings.
Hear the story behind some of his most beloved paintings including 'Moulin de la Galette', 'Dance at Bougival' and 'The Swing'. They were painted at a time of huge change for Paris and for society, when Renoir's friends became his models and scenes of everyday life became his subjects.
Filmed on location in Paris, our curators celebrate Renoir's fascination with love and human interaction, brought to life through his paintings of friends, family and lovers.
