The first scale you should learn really depends on your goals. If you want to make music and have fun as fast as possible, start with the minor pentatonic. It's great for soloing and shows up in a ton of riffs. But if you want to actually understand how music works, the C major scale in open position is the one. It's been the starting point for guitar students forever, and for good reason. Every note in that scale is also the root of a chord in the key of C, so learning it gives you a roadmap for how chords and melodies connect. Go make music!
