Houthi rebels in Yemen have increased their chokehold on the Bab al-Mandab Strait to the Red Sea, as a surge in fighting between the Iran-backed forces and Saudi-backed Yemeni troops have forced over 100,000 people to flee.
Thousands more have fled across the sea to neighbouring Djibouti.
The Houthis have stepped up attacks on Saudi energy infrastructure, and by seizing the strait, the rebels control the country’s access point to the Red Sea which could push oil prices higher.
