A Gilded Age Garden Tour of Newport, Rhode Island

Newport’s Gilded Age gave rise not only to iconic American mansions, but to glorious estate landscapes, which were the premier residential gardens of their day. In this lecture, take a historic tour through the gardens of the Breakers and the Elms, and Green Animals Topiary Garden. Learn how these gardens have evolved in design and horticulture over the last century-plus, and how they have survived into the 21st century.
