Chris Yen, a 24-year-old Vietnamese filmmaker, is paving his path in Hollywood and putting his culture front and center. He’s pursuing a feature-length movie about a Vietnamese brother struggling to take care of his little sister but when a Hollywood studio offered him $1 million to fund it, he turned it down after he say the studio wanted to replace Vietnamese actors with Chinese actors and swap Vietnamese cultural elements for Chinese ones. NBC’s Vicky Nguyen reports for TODAY.
