Why Work with a Music Producer? Prince Charles Alexander Explains | Project Management for Musicians
Access Free Music Resources: https://berkonl.in/3HPNkYL
In this video from Berklee Online’s Project Management for Musicians course, famed music producer and engineer Prince Charles Alexander discusses why a recording artist would want to use a producer. When you do everything yourself, he says, you have a comfort level, but a producer can come in and explain other ways of approaching the compositions. He likens the role of a producer to that of a coach. While a player is involved in the game, a coach can see the foibles that need to be worked on, and the nuances that need to be shifted. And like a coach’s relationship to a player, a producer often has more experience than the people they’re producing, and can introduce them to recording techniques they might not be familiar with. You succeed with recordings that make connections with people, and the producer will often use techniques that maximize those connections.
Project Management for Musicians was written by Jonathan Feist and features guidance from working musicians, producers, and creative professionals on timelines, communication, budgeting, and managing complex creative projects.
