Korben and Leeloo's relationship comes full circle in these two moments. Their first kiss doesn't exactly go as Korben planned — he kisses Leeloo while she's unconscious, only for her to wake up, point his own gun at him, and make one thing very clear: “Never without my permission.”
By the end of their journey, their relationship has completely changed. When Leeloo begins to question whether humanity is even worth saving, Korben tells her that despite all the violence she's discovered, there is still one thing worth fighting for: love. He finally tells her he loves her, and this time their kiss becomes the moment that activates the Fifth Element and saves the world.
