An early season heat wave is expected to scorch nearly half of the United States from the Mississippi River to the Atlantic coastline. Dozens of cities could hit record highs over the next couple of days, including Charlottesville, Virginia, which reached 92 degrees on Wednesday. In the Midwest, severe storms and heavy rain caused houses in Milwaukee to flood and another tornado touched down near Kansas City. NBC’s Ryan Nobles reports and TODAY’s Al Roker tracks the forecast.
