Mayday Air Disaster | S2E06 | Missing Over New York
The East Coast was experiencing a terrible storm that was disrupting air traffic. Avianca Airlines Flight 52 was low on fuel and they hadn’t received word to approach JFK yet. When they received instructions to land, they got caught in a violent windshear and had to abort. The plane was put into a slow approach. They had run out of fuel, and one by one the engines shut down. The plane crashed in a New York suburb killing 73 people, including the flight crew.
