Koenigsegg built a $4 Million Illegal Car
At Pebble Beach, Alex breaks down the Koenigsegg CC GT1 — a $4 million hypercar built around detail as much as outright speed.
The exterior runs on what Koenigsegg calls a "ghost feature," where the wings, front end, windows, and doors open and close on their own. It's finished in "ghost fiber," a rare white carbon fibre that's notoriously difficult to produce, and the fuel gauge is built into the front end itself — two red lights that drop as the tank empties. All 70 units built come with a removable roof.
Power comes from a twin-turbo V8 producing just under 1,300 horsepower on regular fuel. Inside, the car features a dedicated key holder, fully analog dials including a G-force meter, and a gear system Koenigsegg calls "ASMR," with auto, sequential, manual, and reverse modes. Drivers can run it with a sequential shifter or manual paddles, and in sequential mode, a clutch is still required to engage first gear.
