
Diane Crump, First Female Jockey at Kentucky Derby, Dies at 77
Diane Crump, who became the first woman to ride professionally in a horse race in 1969 before blazing a trail in the Kentucky Derby a year later, has died at 77. Crump went on to win 228 races before riding her last in 1998.
