How Japan is Fighting Back Against a Surge of Bear Attacks
Japan is seeing a surge in bear attacks with a record 235 incidents that have killed 13 people. The army, riot police and hunters have been deployed and are using drones that bark like dogs, honey-laced traps and even mechanical wolves to keep brazen bears at bay. It’s happening in part because of climate change with bears coming down from the mountains because there is barely enough food to scrounge in forests. NBC’s Janis Mackey Frayer reports for TODAY.
