How the world of Charles Dickens comes alive in this Dutch town
Every winter, the Dutch city of Deventer transforms into a real-life Victorian village filled with around 1,000 performers dressed as Charles Dickens characters — from Ebenezer Scrooge to the Ghost of Christmas Past.
We followed the actors behind the scenes, talked to visitors from around the world, and discovered why the 180 year-old novella “A Christmas Carol” still feels so magical today.
