The hills on Palau’s biggest island in Micronesia have been hiding a secret for a thousand years. That was until recently when archaeologists used 3D drone mapping technology to uncover a vast network of earthwork terraces hidden beneath the dense jungle. ABC reporter Hugo Hodge travelled to Palau to find out why these expansive structures remained hidden for so long and why modern Palauan’s were sceptical of their ancestor’s ability to build them.
