A Pakistan court has sentenced former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife to 17 years in prison in a case involving jewellery gifted during a Saudi state visit.

The former cricket star and his wife Bushra Bibi are already serving sentences for previous convictions and the new ones are expected to run concurrently with their existing jail terms.
Imran Khan and his supporters say that the multiple charges brought against him are without foundation and are aimed at blocking his political career.
