Volodymyr Zelenskyy is already on his way to Canada for talks with western allies ahead of tomorrow's meeting with Mr Trump.
He told reporters Ukraine was "doing everything it can to stop this war".
Not so Russia, which launched an onslaught on Kyiv, targeting the city with missiles and drones through the night and into this morning.
Russia's defence ministry claimed it had shot down more than 100 Ukrainian drones - with no confirmation from Ukraine.
