US-Iran ceasefire is 'fragile but we need it to hold' says Penny Wong | 7.30
More than a month after the war began, and after days of escalating threats, the US and Iran today agreed to a two-week ceasefire.
The deal was announced as the clock ticked down to Donald Trump's deadline to “wipe out a whole civilisation” in Iran.
But is this really the beginning of the end? Both sides are claiming victory, while Israel says the temporary truce does not extend to its military operation in Lebanon.
Jason Om explains how we got here, and David Speers interviews Foreign Minister Penny Wong about what this means for Australia.
Jacob Greber looks at the economic fallout from the war, and David Speers also interviews former US energy secretary Ernest Moniz, who was the lead negotiator of the Obama-era nuclear deal with Iran.
