Since the first version of Apache Kafka in 2011, Kafka has been using ZooKeeper to coordinate and store metadata. In 2019, work started to remove this dependency. After many years of hard work from the Kafka community, the replacement - “KRaft” - is here. This session is an explanation of what this new generation of Kafka means - including how you migrate your existing Event Streams Kafka clusters to Kraft.
