The Local Government Secretary Steve Reed is reported to have written to all council leaders in England to warn them against introducing four-day working weeks.

Dozens of councils are considering moving staff on to fewer working days and South Cambridgeshire has already done so as there is evidence that productivity improves.
But Steve Reed is reported to have warned council letters to leaders that such a switch could lead them being deemed as failing authorities.
