How Do Americans Really Speak? | ?SCREAM English Pronunciation Analysis (? Halloween Special ?)
Take my FREE course to improve your American English here: https://tinyurl.com/free-course-921
? Happy (almost) Halloween! In this special edition Ben Franklin exercise® we’re taking a short conversation clip from the movie *Scream* and diving deep in to how Americans really speak.
If you’re a moderate to advanced English learner ready to move beyond mere fluency into conversational native-sound speech, this lesson is for you.
In this video you’ll learn how stress, tempo, reductions, linking, schwas and placement all combine to give spoken American English its unique rhythm and sound. We’ll use phonetic symbols (IPA) and on-screen notation so you can visually see how the native speaker pronounces each word and phrase!
? What you’ll get:
- A short real native speaker dialogue from Scream
- On-screen IPA/transcription and notation of reductions & linking
- Sentences and phrases you can pause and repeat with your own voice
- Bonus: Halloween-themed clip to make pronunciation study more fun!
? How to get the most from this lesson:
1. Watch the clip once without stopping to get the “feel” of the clip.
2. Re-watch with the on-screen IPA and notation, and pause when needed — try to imitate exactly.
3. Record yourself saying the same lines and compare your rhythm, linking and reductions with the original.
4. Try using variations of the phrase in your own conversations: how would you say it?
