Ukraine’s ‘death zone’ where elderly people refuse to leave
In Ukraine, there's no let-up in the Russia attacks. In Kherson, everyone is a target in what's been called a Human Safari where ordinary people are hunted in the streets by Russian drones carrying explosives.
The UN has estimated that in the last 18 months 200 civilians have been killed and 2,000 injured by drones.
Located in the south of Ukraine, Kherson was occupied by the Russians until November 2022, when they were pushed out of the city and back across the Dnipro river.
The Russians have launched a relentless offensive on the city centre, which has become known as the red zone.
We spent three days in the city collecting evidence of war crimes and speaking to some of the elderly residents who have endured years of war.
