China has begun large-scale military drills around Taiwan, simulating a blockade and the seizure of key areas, in what Beijing describes as a "warning" to so-called "separatist forces".

The exercises, codenamed Justice Mission 2025, come just weeks after the United States approved an eleven-billion-dollar weapons package for Taiwan, a move that has drawn strong protests from Beijing and further raised tensions in the region.
